Late night foodie...The Vortex

It was a late night and my tummy was hungry and I needed to find a cure. So I went searching online for me and my significant other to eat. It was 11:00 pm and our bellies were roaring! So I did what I do best and looked for a new place. However, we ended up at an old favorite…THE VORTEX. The Vortex is a unique, funky burger joint that is home to Atlanta. They have some of the best burgers on the planet and are home to the TRIPLE CORONARY BYPASS…and if you are a wimp please do not try it, and of course I am a wimp.
The night started with sweet potato fries which were great! Except I was not crazy about the sauce that came with it.

I ordered my classic favorite, the Blue ‘Shroom Burger…which is topped with thick blue cheese spread sautéed mushroom s and bacon. They say it is so good you’ll see God and I DID SEE HEAVEN LOL! My eyes rolled so far in the back of my head. When I bit into the juicy 100% choice ground sirloin cooked to a perfect medium my mouth watered. Oh goodness, writing this blog about this burger is making me want more as I speak. I guarantee you that I am going to end up there tonight.

FYI: If you are on a strict diet DO NOT visit here because this is not the calorie counter spot. It is definitely NOT a kid friendly spot either. The Vortex keeps it raw and tells you that you will get service but you’ll get it their way! It’s hard to explain their eclectic, funky, raw style but I like it, because I am a part time server and I completely understand their “rules” of …being an idiot free zone, reading the menus before you order and not using a cell phone will get you ignored rule! I love their rules because they are a common part of life and just plain courtesy.

My latest venture was introduced to me as a lunch date. This place was quirky, cute, and quaint! It is nestled in the area known as Kirkwood. It is an area that is being revitalized and is up and rising. This area will definitely be a go to spot. Well this cute place named “The Sun in My Belly” had food to die for on a penny to die for budget! You don’t have to worry about budgeting or going broke to get great food here. It averages about $10-$15 per person and you get great service and great food.

I tried the French Toast with ricotta which I thought was a strange combination but I was up for the challenge. IT WAS AMAZING! I can’t wait to go back to have another. Their well seasoned eggs, flavorful bacon, and great atmosphere will have you wanting more. Don’t miss out on this quirky and quaint spot! Soon you’ll be saying yummy in my belly at Sun in My Belly. Check them out @ suninmybelly.com

Family & Kid friendly, date appropriate, and brunch spot!

Just Beginning

Thanks for joining me today! I am new to blogging but I am super excited about blogging about places I have been and will go within the Metro-Atlanta area! I love to dine out, but I am tired of the same ol', same ol' chain restaurants. I will feature independent and unique dining restaurants! Join me as I feature some of the best, and maybe not so great, places to dine in the ATL!
